How to clean your dog collar in 7 quick steps

dirtydog1

You just gave your dog a bath yesterday but something still smells funky. It isn’t you or your dog, it’s his collar!

Time for a good collar soak and scrub. This easy cleaning process is for any nylon or polyester collar.

Here’s what you’ll need to get it done:

  • Bowl of warm water
  • Liquid soap
  • Vinegar (apple cider or white works well)
  • Dry towel
  • Your favorite snack
1

Fill the bottom half of your bowl with warm water. Just enough to submerge the collar.

2

Add about 3 tablespoons of liquid soap. Any kind you like.

3

OPTIONAL - If there is a bad odor to the collar, add 3 tablespoons of vinegar.

4

Swish the collar in the solution for 28 seconds. Let is soak in the soapy water for 5 - 10 minutes.

5

Hand wash the collar by scrubbing it against itself. Don’t use a brush as it will fray the nylon or polyester fibers.

6

rinse well in hot water and then place it on your drying towel or hang to dry. When it’s dry, it is ready to back on your dog.

7

Eat your tasty snack.

Thats it! Just like new without the scent and clean as a pampered chihuahua. Repeat this process as often as needed for perfect collar hygiene.

*Fun note: the vinegar will also work as a flea repellent.
